After suffering a throat cancer, the British actor finally dies, always being remembered for his starring role in Resident Evil 2.

Actor Paul Haddad, who voiced Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 in 1998, has passed away this week at the age of 56. The news has been given by the independent study Invader Studios, who has worked with Haddad on the survival horror that will be released later this month on consoles, Daymare: 1998.

Haddad, of British origin, studied acting at McGill University in Montreal, before graduating in that field at the National Theater School of Canada. Later he would have several roles acting and lending his voice in series such as Babar, McGyver or the animated series of the X-Men and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3. However, what concerns us is his role in video games.

As we said, his most recognizable role is that of Leon S. Kennedy, one of the protagonists of Resident Evil 2 along with Claire Redfield, and that will surely be his most remembered role of all, that of this 1998 classic from the first PlayStation. But as we mentioned, he also has a role in Daymare: 1988, a survival horror that appeared last year on PC and that was a notable tribute to the greats of the genre in the 90s, by Invader Studios.

"We have had the honor of having the opportunity to meet and work with a man as great and a brilliant professional as he was," they said from the Italian studio. Rest in peace, Paul, you will always live in our hearts, "they conclude. Haddad had had throat cancer for years.

A pleiad of stars

Haddad is but one of the great personalities that carried out Resident Evil 2, considered by many to be the best in the saga, while others consider that this honor should go precisely to its remake. In charge of the direction was none other than the controversial Hideki Kamiya, today the visible head of Platinum Games and also the creator, among others, of Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe or Bayonetta. In the role of producer was another popular creative such as Shinji Mikami, who directed the first installment and the fourth – in addition to Dino Crisis -, being directly responsible for the 180 degree turn Resident Evil gave in that game. Later, after leaving Capcom and working on another good handful of games, he founded his own studio, Tango Gameworks, to create the The Evil Within franchise.
