The composer of Doom Eternal, annoyed with the mixes: "I doubt we will work together again"

Mick Gordon assures that he has not been taken into account when mixing his musical themes: "I would not have done this," he points out.

Mick Gordon, composer of the Doom Eternal soundtrack, was not amused that their songs were mixed without regard. That reveals in a series of messages published on social networks, where he has stated that he does not think he will work with id Software again in future installments of the saga. Long ago, the musician already warned that someone from marketing “without musical knowledge” had orchestrated the changes.

It all started after the release of the soundtrack, which is available through the collector's edition of the title. Twitter user @thatACDCguy has become aware of the musical problems and has not hesitated to post it on Twitter. "Mick Gordon is a much better sound engineer than I am," he begins. He then acknowledges his frustration and adds: “I expected much more from him. Again, the music itself is fantastic, but the mix of the official soundtrack is downright terrible. ”

I commented about it yesterday. I turned I'd break the news here. This is a dark day for our beloved franchise from r / Doom

"I have not mixed it myself"

In response to that same tweet, Gordon himself defends himself: “I haven't mixed it and I wouldn't have done that. You will be able to listen to the handful of songs that I did mix (Meathook, Command and Control, etc) ”. Through Reddit, another user has shared a brief conversation between the musician and himself. He asks if he will work again in a future video game of the franchise, but it does not seem that he is for the work: "I doubt that we will work together again."

As VG24 / 7 indicates, the composer posted a comment on YouTube, visibly upset with the attitude of those who decided to mix the compositions that way. In his words, "all those stupid" tempos changes "are the result of someone from marketing who put the songs together without any musical knowledge."

Doom Eternal is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Google Stadia. Its release on Nintendo Switch will occur later, although there is not yet a specific date confirmed.
