Its great objective is to unify in one the different clients and platforms available, centralizing the catalog and friend lists.
GOG, the digital store owned by CD Projekt, is preparing in the coming weeks to launch one of its biggest bets as a digital platform. In the increasingly fragmented scenario of multiple stores, customers and even platforms, the Polish digital store is looking for new ways to defend and expand its position with a customer called GOG Galaxy 2.0, whose main and most publicized objective is to unify the entire catalog. from a player to a single client. From GOG Galaxy 2.0 we can incorporate any other Steam, Uplay, Epic Games account and organize our digital bookshelf in a unified way, being able to install and play any game that you have in those services.
A client to tie them all
This is what the new GOG Galaxy library looks like
GOG Galaxy 2.0 also allows you to include games from other platforms such as consoles (although obviously they cannot be played from the PC) and it also seeks to unify the list of contacts, achievements, etc., so that you can have everything you need from a single client. The client will also incorporate other improvements compared to the current version 1.2 aimed at player comfort using the service, as well as new ways to find interesting games in the store and follow their evolution.
All this while respecting the foundational premise of the old Good Old Games to sell only DRM-free games – something that is optional for developers on Steam for example. The client is also completely optional, so if you prefer to continue downloading the titles directly from your account on the GOG website without installing another client, you can do it without problems.
There is no exact date for the update, but it will be in a few weeks, company sources have confirmed.
