Nintendo restarts Nintendo Switch Online 7-day trial period

Nintendo restarts Nintendo Switch Online 7-day trial period

Players who have already enjoyed the free week will be able to reactivate it and try the NES and SNES video games.

Nintendo Switch Online is the subscription service for the Kyoto console. Customers have access to online video game functions, exclusive offers and the catalog of NES and SNES titles, emulated on the machine itself. Like many other services, the company offered a 7-day trial. Now, Nintendo has decided to restart that period, so that those who have already consumed their trial week will be able to activate it again.

It has been announced by Nintendo itself through a message on social networks, where it recalled that there are already more than 70 classics of its classic consoles playable on Nintendo Switch Online. Those of Mario add new games periodically, many of them with unpublished functions with respect to their originals of NES and SNES. Like other classic conversions, some even have online options.

Over 160,000 accounts hacked

Nintendo recently acknowledged that some users' concerns are true: a security breach has allowed hackers to access more than 160,000 player accounts. According to those of Mario, they have been able to enter through the Nintedo Network ID, previously linked to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Therefore, the Japanese have decided to neutralize the login through this system and have asked the players to take precautions and activate the two-step verification process.

After what happened, it is recommended not to reuse previous passwords that have been previously used in other services, which includes PayPal, for example. The breach has allowed violators access to customer data such as their nickname, date of birth, email, name or gender, although the bank information is still protected.

Nintendo Switch Online has different rates depending on the period of time and if the subscription is individual or family:

  • 1 month (30 days): 3.99 euros.
  • 3 months (90 days): 7.99 euros.
  • 12 months (365 days): 19.99 euros.
  • Family subscription (up to 8 accounts): 34.99 euros.
