Daedalic Entertainment's new production will feature this elusive character.

Sméagol ceased to be Sméagol a long time ago, when the One Ring completely consumed him. Now that he has become the Gollum creature, his only desire is to recover his treasure at all costs. Daedalic Entertainment, the creators of Deponia and State of Mind, are working on The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a new video game that aims to tell the story of this character through a narrative adventure in which stealth will not be missing. The title has just presented its first captures, which you can see in the gallery that we publish below these lines.

"We will tell Gollum's story from a perspective never seen before," said Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO of the Hamburg studio of Daedalic. He explained that they will remain true to the spirit of the books written by JRR Tolkien. The argument will not be developed before The Lord of the Rings, but in parallel.

A difficult road for Gollum

Sauron, the lord of darkness, has begun arming his troops in search of the One Ring, a secret weapon that will allow him to return to the world and deploy all his power against the free peoples of Middle-earth. Therefore, he captures Gollum and subjects him to horrible torture in his fortress of Barad-ûr, with no other purpose than to obtain the information that gives him the possibility of snatching the ring from the current bearer.

The German developer has promised gigantic scenarios and "hostile and friendly faces", although there are still not too many details about it. What is confirmed is that Daedalic's delicate financial situation has not jeopardized this production.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is slated for 2021 and will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Unlike Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor, this title will not be released by Warner Bros.
