They register the domain "Prince of Persia 6" with a web page

The French company may have endorsed the name to protect its commercial use; It does not mean that there is a new game in development.

A company has applied the domain registration of Prince of Persia 6 through the princeofpersia6.com website, but we have not been able to verify that this company is Ubisoft. The French company, which already registered princeofpersia5.com back in 2005, does not have to be developing a video game with the same name; as it already happened with that hypothetical fifth numbered episode that, at least for now, did not exist.

The record is real; that it is registered by Ubisoft is not

These types of practices, which respond to copyright protection reasons, are more than frequent in the video game industry. For example, Sony has recently registered the names of PS6, PS7, PS8 … and Nintendo has renewed the registration of 39 classic games; which does not necessarily indicate a remake of all of them.

The difference in this registry is that, contrary to what is usual, this request has not been made by Gandi SAS (secretary in charge of Ubisoft for these tasks) but by godaddy. It is possible, however, that it is a fake.

We will update the news if it is confirmed if Ubisoft is responsible for this registration.

Ubisoft goes a decade without releasing a main installment of Prince of Persia

Despite the wishes of the fans, Ubisoft has not published a new main game in the series since 2010, the success of which is mainly found in the Sands of Time trilogy, where they are Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia The Soul of the Warrior and Prince of Persia Las Dos Coronas. The last to come out was Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for the last generation in 2010 by Ubisoft Montreal.

Whatever the purpose of Ubisoft with this intellectual property, there is something official that leaves no room for doubt: they have not forgotten the saga. Whether they have news to announce or not is something we will discover soon.

During the period from May to August, journalist Geoff Keighley will headline an alternative event to E3 2020 digitally, Summer Game Fest, to announce news from the main video game publishers at different times of the summer; including the new generation of consoles. Companies like Square Enix, EA, PlayStation, Microsoft, Warber Bros., CD Project, Activision, Blizzard, Bungie or 2K Games will be present; however, Ubisoft has not confirmed presence for now.

Ubisoft's path leads us immediately to its most recent announcement, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, planned for later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. Know everything about the game here.
