Based on the artwork of a former studio employee, the creators of Metroid Prime worked on this production.

The Legend of Zelda remains in the hands of Nintendo's internal studios. However, everything seems to indicate that Retro Studios outlined the first sketches for a new title in the saga. At least if we stick to the designs of Sammy Hall, a former developer of the studio who traced the drawings of some of these characters. The illustrations make it clear that the tone of the product was dark, as the idea was to tell the story of the Master Sword in an alternate universe where Link was defeated against Ganon at the end of Ocarina of Time.

None of the drawings shows the main hero of The Legend of Zelda. Instead, a male version of Sheik appears as the protagonist of these conceptual arts. Hall explains that this is a material that corresponds to the early pre-production of the project. Framed in the bad ending of Ocarina of Time, the last journey of the male Sheikh (after a genocidal ethnic cleansing) is explored ”in his transformation process into the Master Sword. “All this while the Dark Gerudos try to light Ganon like every 100 years.

They worked on it between 2005 and 2008, according to the developer.

The images also feature a petrified version of the Deku Tree, as well as the Clock Town of Majoras's Mask or sketches of the Gerudo tribe, among other drawings of scenarios, monsters and enemies. According to Hall, this Zelda project was underway between 2005 and 2008, the time Nintendo released The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and worked on the dark Twilight Princess.

Nintendo is currently developing a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the hit Nintendo Switch title. At the moment, only one teaser has been presented for that trailer, which came to light during E3 2019. Nothing is known about its release date or the news that will be added regarding its predecessor.
