Call of Duty: Warzone surpasses 60 million downloads in less than two months

Call of Duty: Warzone surpasses 60 million downloads in less than two months

Activision Blizzard has announced its financial results, which also leave Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in good stead.

More than 60 million downloads in just 52 days. That's the number of players Call of Duty: Warzone has downloaded on their console or PC. This has been confirmed by Activision Blizzard through a message on the official Twitter account of the saga. Infinity Ward's new battle royale debuted on March 11 and garnered excellent numbers in its first month, with more than 50 million downloads. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, meanwhile, has sold more copies than any other game in the franchise in the same period.

The figures of both games have to be analyzed in the current context. The coronavirus pandemic has forced many players to lock themselves in their homes, so that many video games have experienced a rebound in users, as it also happened on platforms such as Steam. In fact, the main Internet entertainment companies have reached an agreement to work together with institutions and reduce quality with the aim of preventing connections from becoming saturated.

Infinity Ward at war with cheats

For a while now, both Activision and Infinity Ward have stood firm and put in place a zero tolerance policy against cheats. After kicking out more than 70,000 violators, Americans are working hard to strengthen their reporting systems. At the same time, they confirmed that the cheating suspects will play together in Call of Duty: Warzone until their guilt or innocence is determined.

Call of Duty: Warzone was released under the free-to-play model, so all users can download it for free without purchasing a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This battle royale developed by Infinity Ward is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Like Modern Warfare, it works across different seasons, adding new content on a regular basis.
