New from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: no barriers to progression, puzzles and diplomacy

Ubisoft Montreal doesn't want there to be any impediments to advancing the story or forcing users to grind enemies to level up.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will not be as similar to Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017) and Odyssey (2018) as it might seem at first. Despite its design, closer to the RPG structure of the last two iterations, the new work by Ubisoft Montreal gradually reveals details that allow us to glimpse the path in which the project is heading. This time, its director, Ashraf Ismail has confirmed that the story will not be artificially lengthened, there will be diplomacy and there will be no barriers to progression in history.

A more direct and varied game when it comes to tackling missions

As SAGamer collects in his interview with the manager (via Kotaku), Ubisoft is aware of the complaints from the community and, as with the size of the map – not necessarily the largest in the series – to speed things up , they will avoid “any type of barriers in the progression”; that is, they will not impose by decree impediments to continue the main story, such as mandatory side missions or the so-called grindeo, which encouraged fighting with enemies from the surroundings with the aim of reaching the recommended level to embark on the next mission.

This does not mean that there are no side missions, explorations, or puzzles, however. Ubisoft Montreal is working on more interesting puzzles "that hide disturbing truths." More intrigue, more secrets, more reasons to explore. On the other hand, there will be great cultural diversity, with very diverse methodologies of life between villages and tribes.

In fact, a system of diplomacy will be implemented towards enemy environments: it will not be necessary to end adversity solely with the life-and-death choice. Reaching agreements will be a possibility through dialogue. Finally, they add that the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla control, so that they will feel very similar to the controls.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is scheduled to go on sale on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (with Smart Delivery) in late 2020. It is confirmed that on high-end platforms it will run in 4K resolution and 30 FPS "minimum". In addition to what is discussed here, there are other classic mechanics that are back. Before his departure we will see "gameplay crowd".
