Call of Duty Warzone adds Classic Battle Royale mode for a limited time

Infinity Ward's battle royale embraces the genre's most traditional foundations and invites players to survive.

The Call of Duty: Warzone gaming experience will seem more traditional thanks to the incorporation of a new game mode for a limited time. Infinity Ward has announced in an entry in the Activision blog all the news that will arrive this week to the different games in the saga. In the case of battle royale, the North American developer confirms several interesting news, among which the Classic Battle Royale mode stands out.

Unlike the main mode, this mode does away with purchasing stations, contracts and the Gulag. This means that if you die, you will die and you will not be able to return. The idea is to access an experience more similar to that of some classic video games of the genre, so the only objective is to survive with the weapons you find in the area, in true PUBG style.

New weapons and more

Furthermore, from now on, players will find SMGs and assault rifles in the Gulag. It is still possible to receive shotguns or pistols, but other kinds of weapons are being delivered such as the AK-47, M13, Kilo 141, Ram-7, Striker 45, etc. Additionally, the Armor Box is a new item available in all Warzone modes. It is similar to Ammunition Boxes, so it can be used by the entire squad before or after an enemy encounter. Infinity Ward confirms that it can be looted on the battlefield or obtained through submission boxes (or in stores).

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play game available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Infinity Ward is already working on a version intended for the new generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this battle royale works under a seasonal model, which adds new content on a regular basis.
