From the North American company they celebrate the success of sales of Mafia III, while specifying that Mafia will not be a complete remake.
Although it can be deduced from the relaunch of the three installments of the franchise, since Take Two, publisher of companies like Rockstar or 2K Games, they have reiterated the importance of Mafia. In fact, and despite its lukewarm reception at the time of its launch, back in 2016, it has been reported that Mafia III has reached the negligible figure of 7 million copies sold.
Family Matters on Take Two
It was at the usual investor meeting for the end of the fiscal year that Take Two CEO Karl Slatoff reported. In addition, he showed everyone's enthusiasm for the arrival of the Mafia remake -of which he specified that it is not strictly such-, the remastering of Mafia II -which we have already analyzed- and the definitive edition of Mafia III with all its additional content.
"From the point of view of the opportunity that Mafia is, it has been an incredibly successful franchise for us for as long as they understand Mafia, Mafia II and Mafia III," explains Slatoff. "Just to give you an idea, Mafia III has already sold around seven million copies worldwide. Mafia II has also been very successful as well as the first, so it is a very significant contribution for us. We are very excited about this trilogy. They are the same three games, although with many improvements each one ".
"The final Mafia edition will be basically redone," continues Slatoff. "It won't be a complete remake, but there will be new technology, new voice acting, new mechanics and many other new features. There is a lot of work behind the relaunch of this trilogy, so it is a very important franchise for us."
As we were saying, both the remastering of Mafia II and the definitive edition of Mafia III are now available on PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC, on their respective digital platforms. However, to enjoy the Mafia remake you will have to wait until next summer.
