Naughty Dog's new work is preparing to launch after a slight delay due to the coronavirus crisis.
There are few weeks left for The Last of Us Part 2 to be released. The ambitious production of Naughty Dog has started its marketing campaign with a short documentary in episodic format in which the developers reflect on the various elements of the video game. In his most recent chapter, dedicated to game mechanics and systems, Kurt Margenau, co-director alongside Neil Druckmann, confirmed that players will not be able to fully develop Ellie's skills in their first game.
He explains it in the minute 7:30 approximately, because yes, there is an important reason behind this decision. Although the title separates weapon development and skill enhancement systems, some of them are directly tied to the decisions we have made during the adventure. That will require us to branch out Ellie's abilities in one direction or another. Naughty Dog's intention is for users to decide and assume the consequences of their actions. Even the progression system needed to have "a noticeable and tangible impact," says Margenau.
PS4 Pro x The Last of Us Part 2
The expected work of the creators of Uncharted will not be without a luxury edition of PS4 Pro. Sony has announced a pack that includes the game in physical format and a themed console that sports an engraving of Ellie's tattoo on its case. In addition, its command is also decorated for the occasion. Alongside the machine, they also uncovered a 2TB hard drive and a special headseat.
The Last of Us Part 2 is already finished. The game was initially scheduled for February, but Naughty Dog needed a little more time to reach the quality levels that had been set. The second delay came not because of creative needs, but because of the coronavirus epidemic. With several countries in a state of confinement, Sony decided to choose a new date more consistent. That has also caused Ghost of Tsushima to abandon its initial launch window (June) to move to July.
The title will go on sale on June 19 on PS4.
