This multiplayer shooter is a new IP developed by Poles People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) and produced by Square Enix.
The coronavirus epidemic has forced studies and companies to focus their communication campaigns on the Internet. This has happened, in part, due to the cancellation of E3 2020, which has motivated the creation of alternative digital events, either framed at a fair or through the developers themselves. Outriders, the new People Can Fly game (creators of Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment), has just been shown in an Outriders Broadcoast, a streaming presented under the title of "Created for gamers", where gameplay has been shown and much more.
During the broadcast, the developers unveiled new gameplay footage, bonus areas, and never-before-seen powers, not to mention detailed information about character classes. As a development journal, the studio has taken the opportunity to update everything that surrounds the project. This is the first video of many others that will be published monthly. The idea is to delve into the different elements of the game, as well as its world.
On a planet full of dangers
This Square Enix production is a completely new intellectual property that embraces the theme of science fiction. It is a first character shooter focused on cooperative play, which does not mean that the narrative component is abandoned. In fact, the new People Can Fly has numerous sequences that will bring us up to date with everything that happens in this wild and indomitable world. We will have to cross forests, mountains, deserts and other different orographies to fight against harsh enemies. In addition to firearms, our protagonists will have at their disposal a whole series of powers that they can deploy against hostile forces.
The broadcast has started with the characters narrating the context information. They were looking for a home, but they found an inhospitable and dangerous territory. All of them were consumed by power, which made them forget what they had been in the past. In this first episode, the first city colonized by humans has been unveiled. Inside the city, one of the great engines of the ship that brought homo sapiens to that planet remains on the surface, already half worn.
The truth is that the huge engine exploded and left the area damaged forever, as nuclear contamination spread without remedy. Many died and more would die after the years of war and more war. It is now exile territory. The mission? Finding an old truck, which apparently hides information that will help you discover what the anomaly is. In addition, a non-human monster has been presented that will make life quite difficult for us.
Customization, difficulty and more
One of the important aspects of Outriders is that it will provide the ability to customize the gaming experience. In this way, those who prefer a more RPG approach will be able to choose to have numerical elements appear on the screen, as well as different bars. On the other hand, those who opt for a more shooter style will be able to deactivate all those indications.
The video game incorporates a dynamic difficulty system, which makes it easy for the game itself to adapt organically to the player's ability at the controls. The power of the enemy will depend on attributes such as armor or level, although if you defeat a more powerful rival you will get more succulent rewards. Basically, there are several tiers that modify the challenge level and that are unlocked depending on the player's performance. In the highest, the user must optimize their equipment as much as possible. The difficulty will also be adapted to the number of players in the game (it can be played alone without problems).
Trickster is one of the three new classes to be announced throughout these videos. It is an assassin class capable of manipulating time and space to catch enemies by surprise. Depending on the build, you can also take a tank role. All classes have eight powers in total, unlockable as you progress.
Outriders will go on sale later this year on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
