The Last of Us: Part 2 | Graphical comparison between 2017 and 2020

A YouTube user publishes his own comparison between the 2017 Paris Games Week trailer of the new Naughty Dog with the latest State of Play.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is one of the most anticipated video games of the year and therefore, one of the titles that raises the most expectation with each new news or trailer. And precisely, the story that concerns us today is about trailers and a comparison made by a YouTube user between the famous footage shown at Paris Games Week 2017 and the latest State of Play trailer dedicated exclusively to the new Naughty Dog. Has anything changed in these years at a graphic level?

Minimal changes at a great graphical level

Recall that in the extensive video of the last State of Play dedicated to The Last of Us: Part 2 both unpublished scenes and others already seen were seen, which has allowed the Cycu1 user to recover those same sequences from 2017 and buy them with the latest footage . And although certain differences can be seen, the overall visual quality of the video game remains practically intact, anticipating what can easily be the graphic ceiling of PS4.

And it is that the cinematic scenes of The Last of Us: Part 2 are made with the title's own graphic engine, just as his commissioned studio always does, taking advantage of the graphic potential of his works to deepen his narrative without presenting visual changes between gameplay and cinematics.

In this sense, between both trailers there are some changes such as the way to illuminate the scenes, slight touches on the characters that appear on the screen, the effect of the rain or some textures, among others. But beyond small details, The Last of Us Part 2 looks just as spectacular as the first day of presentation where only cinematics without gameplay were shown.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is scheduled for release on PS4 on June 19, 2020.
