Arkane Studios rectifies: Dishonored's story is not over

The French study concludes the Kaldwin story, but ensures that there are still things to tell in the universe of its star franchise.

In the week we've celebrated 20 years of one of Bethesda's most talented studios, Arkane Studios, the French have also made headlines in an interview stating that there would be no more installments from Dishonored, its star franchise. However, a few days later they wanted to come to the fore to rectify those words: the story of the Kaldwin and the Outsider has ended, but not the world of Dishonored, which they say has still "a lot of potential".

"The rumor that we would put IP in a hiatus was exaggerated and misinterpreted," said Dinga Bakaba, Creative Director of the French studio. “It is not necessarily the same when you are talking about what could already be done, and you are telling a journalist that it is not what we are doing right now. Is not the same. So it's not a decision that is made. "

"There is still much to discover in the world of Dishonored," continues Bakaba. "And who knows what the future will bring, we had a story to tell about the Kaldwin and the Outsider, and that story ended."

Ideas about the next gen

At another point in that interview, the studio talked about the new generation, which will arrive later this year in the form of PS5 and Xbox Series X, commenting that artificial and physical intelligence will be the points on which they will basically focus. However, in another interview with VG 24/7, Bakaba elaborated a bit more.

"IA; physics simulation… There are many things you can do when you are developing a video game for those platforms ”, he begins explaining. “It will be our third generation, and as with all, there is a principle in which to start messing with technology. But when we are well into it, it will be very exciting for us. AI, physics… All of those aspects will definitely enhance the interactivity in our games in a big way ”.

Despite their optimism, currently at Arkane they have not yet announced anything about their next project. For now, they will leave this generation behind, having offered us two great games like Dishonored 2 and Prey, in addition to a standalone expansion for the first, Death of the Outsider.
