Naughty Dog, Xbox, EA, Marvel, Star Wars, Sony and more say no to racism

Many companies in the video game and entertainment sector mourn the assaults and the death of black George Floyd.

The video game industry has united once again against racism. The United States is in a time of high political and social tension. The death of George Floyd, an African American who died in police custody last Monday, has led to a multitude of protests across the country, currently governed by Donald Trump, that has challenged protesters to exacerbate the health situation. Many companies in the sector have publicly penalized any racist act.

EA Sports has been one of the most famous cases, but not the only one. Bethesda, Riot Games, Summergall Studios, Sony, Naughty Dog or Xbox, among others, have issued official statements from the social network Twitter, signifying themselves against racial discrimination.

Madden NFL 21, to be formally announced soon, is a video game whose sport, American football, has a high percentage of black players. Therefore: “We support our African-American / Black community of friends, players, colleagues and other partners. Our immediate attention is on the actions that we can take to lead us to change against unfair treatment and systemic bias that affects the nation and our world, ”explains the editor.

Riot Games, Summerfall Studios, Aaron Greenberg, Marketing Director at Xbox, Bethesda, the official Star Wars account, Marvel Entertainment, Sony, Naughty Dog … The community comes together to make racism disappear.

Those responsible for The Last of Us Part 2 encourage not to remain silent, not to be complicit in the situation: “This is not the time for us to be silent. Many people have suffered for too long from this systemic problem in America, ”you can read, always with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, which means:“ the lives of black people matter ”.

To all this are added the claims of great athletes in the NBA or the NFL itself, especially black stars, who also call signifying white athletes. The fight against racism thus extends throughout the United States after this famous death. Sports and entertainment sing the word with the same message.
