The Last of Us: Part 2, deals with the meaning of being human

Anthony Newman, Co-game director of Naughty Dog told us about the essence of the game

As part of the pre-launch activities for The Last of Us: Part 2, PlayStation Latin America gave us the opportunity to chat via video conference with Anthony Newman, co-game director of Naughty Dog. At this table we were able to ask him a couple of questions related to the game without spoilers, trying to understand the meaning and essence of the game that will be released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive this June 19.

Meristation: The Last of Us: Part 2, deals with the issue of inclusion in times where bigotry is still present in some parts. How is it that this game brings players closer?

AN: TLOU2 is a title that in its essence tries to find out the meaning of being a human, we try to represent that in an honest way. In the game there are characters with different conductors in their lives just as in our reality. This is where we try to be realistic and authentic to show the different forms of the human experience.

Meristation: This game will be released in the middle of one of the worst scenarios worldwide that coincidentally coincides with a pandemic. Did this change anything in the game in the end?

AN: No, because we had almost finished it, but it is certainly a strange coincidence that premieres at this time. When you start playing TLOU2 you will see that the infection and pandemic that we posed was 25 years in the past (2013), although in the game this is more like a stage or a curtain. This title is more about the story of the characters and what happens in circumstances with a lot of pressure, where it is difficult to survive, but it is also about a world where the beauty of nature has claimed its place in the environment. A planet where the rivers now flow through the great avenues and where the undergrowth has taken the streets, the unique aspect of TLOU2 is that combination of elements that invite you to explore.

The Last Of Us Part 2 will occupy almost 80 gigabytes on the PlayStation 4 placing it as one of the largest games on this platform. Do not miss all the coverage we will have of this exclusive video game on the Sony platform.
