Through a statement on its official blog, Epic Games has announced its intention to delay both the start of Fortnite Season 3 Chapter 2, as well as the date of The Device event, Season 2 of its Battle Pass. All of this is due to recent events in the United States, and the growing tension on the streets of most cities in the country.
Epic Games announces a new delay for Fortnite Season 3 Chapter 2
At around 23:00 on June 3 (local date and time in Spain), Epic Games published a statement on its blog, announcing a new delay for both the start of Fortnite Season 3 Chapter 2, and the end event from Season 2, called "The Device". This is the full statement in Spanish:
Greetings Fortnite community!
The latest events are a forceful reminder that injustices are still present in our society, from the rejection of the most basic human rights to the impact of racism both subtly and totally openly against people of color. We are very aware of the pain that our friends, family, team members, players and communities are feeling these days.
We believe in equality, justice, diversity and inclusion; fundamental values that are above any policy.
The team is eager to move forward with Fortnite, but we have to make up for the season 3 launch over time so that the team focuses on themselves and their families and communities.
The Device Live event will be postponed until Monday, June 15, while Season 3 will launch on Wednesday, June 17. We know that this delay has occurred just after another delay, and we thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.
