Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will allow us to finally explore the planets

We will be able to land on planets, fight on them, or join other pilots in rally centers.

Planets had long been passable territory for our ships in Elite Dangerous, but in a very precarious way, with planets without an atmosphere and without the possibility of getting off the ship. That will change in Odyssey, the next great expansion of the Frontier game, which will allow us for the first time to get out of the confines of our cabin and explore its huge universe with a new perspective that will expand our possibilities and also the dangers.

A new frontier

Once we are more than just an extension of our ship, we will have numerous worlds to explore and interact with other pilots in a fight for wealth, power and relevance. We will be able to become soldiers, with a first person perspective that will allow us to immerse ourselves in the action and fight against different threats, including other players. But it will not be limited to becoming a shooter, Odyssey will expand our possibilities in different ways, with numerous new contracts that will motivate us to travel from one end of the galaxy to another.

Odyssey promises a variety of scenarios with impressive views, with planets full of bases and settlements where we can interact with NPCs and other players. There will be a diplomatic and commercial side, beyond pure combat, so the idea of forging our own destiny is maintained using the path that suits our sensibilities and preferences. If we wish, we will be able to create large alliances or well-trained small squads of soldiers with other players, offer our services to other players and find master engineers who will allow us to access unprecedented improvements, for a price, which will facilitate us to more accurately outline our playing style.

This new step will be complemented with that of ships and SRVs in a natural way, so that everything is integrated naturally and deeply into the game and our life as a commander.

The expansion will be released in early 2021.
