The Outer Worlds on Switch: graphical comparison with the Xbox One version

The new title from Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division arrives tomorrow at the Nintendo console and the first graphic comparisons have already appeared.

The Outer Worlds arrives tomorrow at Nintendo Switch with a controversial port of the title that appeared on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in the fall of last year after some last minute delays. Now, and with the title already available for technical Reviews, users have made several graphical comparisons between the original versions and that of the Switch, showing that there are not a few graphical differences between the two, leaving the Nintendo console far worse. . Let’s see to what extent its graphic aspect has been modified to adapt the video game to the technical capabilities of the Switch.

Large graphic differences

And it is that the port of The Outer Worlds for Switch does not reach the numbers promised by its managers long ago, with a lower resolution than expected, much more basic textures, characters with little detail and numerous elements of the scenarios that have directly disappeared, especially in open environments.

Thus, the average resolution of the game in portable mode is 520p, although on many occasions there are notable drops in resolution to 384p; in dock mode something similar happens, although in this case it goes from the promised 1080p to the real 720p. To all this we must add some drops of images per second more than perceptible, falling again below the promised 30fps.

On the other hand, the loss of quality of the textures is more than evident, with much less detailed environments, characters and objects, reducing the geometry of the models in most of them and even making disappear elements that we can find in the other versions, all so that the Switch version does not suffer more than desired visually and performance.

Finally, and as pointed out by Digital Foundry, The Outer Worlds on Switch presents too much text pop-in and even on-screen elements and suffers from sudden drops in performance as the game progresses, also presenting load times exaggeratedly long. All this comparing this port with the already available versions of PC, PS4 and Xbox One; We leave you with a comparison of The Outer Worlds between Switch and Xbox One.
