The creator of Unepic presents a trailer for his new project: Unmetal

Making clear reference to the origins of Metal Gear, Fran Téllez presents his new work to the public.

Fran Téllez, one of the most recognized indie creators on the Spanish scene after Unepic and Ghost 1.0, has been cooking his new work for some time, about which he had already given some details. Unmetal will be the name of this project, in which the clear influence of the original MSX Metal Gear is appreciated, although with that humor and parody element that we could already appreciate in Unepic.

Snake?

The root of Unmetal is in Prisioner of War, a project by the author for MSX with music by Gryzor98 and WYZ that stood out for its ability to take advantage of the machine and offer elements more typical of Metal Gear 2, a revolutionary game but developed with the “luxury” of all the advances and greater capacity of MSX2. Now he collects that base and, together with the team with which he developed Ghost 1.0, expands it in different directions, with a new technological staging and all kinds of tricks with which to play with the artificial intelligence of the guards, using classic tricks like capture the guard’s attention with coins and thus be able to advance or neutralize the guard without danger.

Imprisoned for a crime we did not commit, we will embody a dedicated soldier escaping from the maximum security prison we are in and stop a conspiracy to end NATO. The game will reward stealth and allow us to use various strategies to dodge guards, deactivate cameras or neutralize threats, although it will also offer action and combat against fearsome final bosses, always in a more casual and less dramatic tone than that of the youth work of Hideo Kojima.

The other great news, apart from the trailer, is the confirmation that the title will be playable for a few days on June 9 through Steam, so we can see its virtues first hand. The release date is still set for October 2 of this year.
