The new standalone game in the saga will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5 in late 2020 based on Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 (2018).

Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will arrive on PS5 with visual improvements and better lighting effects thanks to ray tracing, one of the characteristics of the console’s own hardware. The studio’s head of communications, James Stevenson, has stated on Twitter that puddles – one of the most disputed elements of the original PS4 game due to its apparent lack of detail – will now be improved thanks to ray tracing.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, new standalone game

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released at the end of 2020 exclusively for PS5 and it will be a new adventure within the saga started in 2018 with Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. It is not a remastering more a DLC, but an independent expansion based on this video game, a longer duration than is usually normal in a DLC; but less than the original title was. An equivalent case is The Lost Legacy of Uncharted 4 or First Light of InFAMOUS: Second Son.

In this way, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be sold as a complete game and will not require the original title to be executed. It will, however, serve as a bridge title between the work of two years ago and an eventual Spider-Man 2 for some time in the future.

On the official website, they confirm that thanks to the PS5’s SSD memory we will be able to play with almost instantaneous load times, which will allow fast travel to be a matter of tenths of a second. In addition, the DualSense will offer haptic feedback when it comes to swinging with spider webs. More details will be given later as well as the specific release date of the game; presumably accompanying the launch of PlayStation 5.
