Little Devil Inside will trade an enemy type for accusations of racism

It is one of the small projects that were shown during the PlayStation 5 event in which the console games were presented.

Neostream Interactive, creators of Little Devil Inside, have apologized for designing a particular type of enemy, which has been flagged as racist by the community. It is a game that was shown during the PlayStation 5 presentation event on June 11, although it is not exclusive to the Sony platform. Soon after, some players noticed that one of the enemies looked like a kind of caricature of some indigenous tribe. Faced with this situation, the team has decided to cut their losses and modify the design of these characters.

“Racist stereotypes of any kind were not intentional, we did not realize the stereotypical connotations, so we want to apologize to those who have been offended by the design of the characters,” they say on the game’s Facebook page. The developers say they have not attempted to comically reproduce any African or African American tribe. This way, they will change the shape of the lips, alter their skin tone and make other series of adjustments to reverse the situation. If this is not possible, they may change “the design completely”.

Accusations by streamers

One of the first to raise his voice was streamer Lord Balvin, as published by Kotaku. “I was very excited with Little Devil Inside, but then I looked at those types of enemies,” he criticized. Streamer Pika Chulita has also joined in the criticism: “It is a racist cartoon. There is a way to reflect the indigenous tribes without making a caricature, “he opined.

Little Devil Inside was one of the games that came to light during the PlayStation 5 presentation, but it will also be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Sony Interactive Entertainment, meanwhile, put all the meat on the grill and offered a first glimpse of both first and third party games. In the field of PlayStation Talents titles, works such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon: Forbidden West or Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart made an appearance.
