Summer solstice in Pokémon GO: when does it start?

The first and most important thing: the dates. The summer solstice in the northern hemisphere will mean that the days are longer and that in the southern hemisphere the nights are longer than in the rest of the year. Thus, Clefairy, the Pokémon that appears in a group on full moon nights to play, will be seen wild in a varicoloured form in an exceptional way.

The event will start on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and end on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. local time.

Summer Solstice Event Details

All Pokémon related to the sun and moon, such as Clefairy and Sunkern among others, will appear more frequently in the wild in Pokémon GO; also when hatching 5 km Eggs, after completing exclusive field research tasks of the event and in raids. Until now, you could only get a Varicoloured Clefairy by hatching and evolving a Varicolore Cleffa. Now we will have the opportunity to catch various colored Clefairy in the wild.

On the other hand, Lunatone and Solrock will appear in the 3-star raids during the mentioned period; also in the 5 km Eggs regardless of location: worldwide.   • From Friday, June 19 at 8:00 a.m. to Saturday, June 20 at 11:59 p.m. local time, Lunatone will appear more frequently in the wild in the eastern hemisphere and Solrock in the west.
  • From Sunday, June 21 at 00:00 to Monday, June 22 at 23:59 local time, Lunatone and Solrock will appear more frequently in the wild everywhere.
  • From Tuesday, June 23 at 00:00 to Wednesday, June 24 at 22:00 local time, Lunatone and Solrock will change hemispheres. Lunatone will appear more frequently in the wild in the western hemisphere and Solrock in the eastern.
