The beloved game of the Japanese company is officially used again for possible commercial purposes. It will star in Anime Expo.
Square Enix has applied a new trademark related to “Subarashiki Kono Sekai” (The World Ends with You) this past June 1 in Japan. The beloved adventure of Neku, original of Nintendo DS and Tetsuya Nomura, is again rescued officially by the owner of its rights, which leaves the doors open to a possible announcement for future manifestations of the license; either in video games or in other audiovisual fields.
The World Ends With You, protagonist of the July Anime Expo Lite
The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation unveiled its digital alternative to the previously canceled Anime Expo 2020 for the coronavirus (COVID-19) just a few weeks ago. In said statement, they showed the official illustration that will serve to lead this celebration, which is none other than The World Ends With You: Ai and Xeno “have run into the gang of The World Ends with You in Shibuya”, you can read.
The event will take place on July 3 and 4 through an online broadcast that can be followed live. However, in the absence of knowing whether intellectual property will continue to be explored commercially as a possible animated series or movie, fans of the original Nintendo DS video game published in 2008 (later saw the light on mobile devices) and its remastering for Nintendo Switch in 2018 they expect Square Enix to surprise us and announce a new video game as a sequel; especially after the indications included in the edition of two years ago in the hybrid console.
At Anime Expo 2020 there will be companies like Bushiroad, Crunchyroll, Pony Canyon, VIZ Media and other large chains, which will offer news for their series and content list in the coming months. There will also be Q&A roundtables, live content, and talks with guests like Yoshitaka Amano, a Japanese graphic illustrator known for his Final Fantasy work or series like Vampire Hunter D.
