Horizon: Forbidden West (PS5) will arrive in 2021; new details confirmed

The new episode of the Guerrilla Games saga points to a release next year on PlayStation 5. It will “practically” eliminate loading times.

Guerrilla Games has confirmed in a new official video that Horizon: Forbidden West is aiming for a 2021 release for the PlayStation 5. After learning of its existence at the PS5 launch event this past week and becoming one of the event’s most acclaimed titles, the Dutch study now rules out its possible availability in 2020.

Will “virtually” eliminate loading times

Mathijs de Jonge, director of this sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn (2017, PS4), chants in the Guerrilla Talks video: “We aim to launch the game next year, in 2021.” During the same, he explains that this work will be “a little bigger” and will include, as has already been evidenced, underwater areas where Aloy, the main character, will be able to swim and dive in both lakes and seas.

Thanks to the PlayStation 5 SSD memory, this new Horizon: Forbidden West will “practically” eliminate loading times; as works such as Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales have already hinted in different communications. “If you open the map and make a quick trip from one end to the other, or if you restart from a checkpoint, it will be super fast,” says de Jonge. Regarding that leafy world that we could see in the preview of the video game, he assures that it will be “more detailed, vibrant and immersive”.

New machines and tribes in Horizon: Forbidden West

Horizon: Forbidden West will have new machines. Shell Snappers will be the ones we will see on the coasts and areas like lakes. On the other hand, the Snapmaws, which will be not so much on the surface but in the deep sea hunting to survive; finally, the Sunwings, which thanks to their flying abilities will be roaming the skies. We can scan them all to face them with guarantees. All in all, the title will include new tribes and a large machine called the Tremor Tusk (the one shaped like a mammoth).
