Skate confirms its return: a new game is in development

The final surprise of EA Play Live 2020 has been Skate, a game in high demand by the community that has not been relegated to oblivion.

Unexpected. After Activision announced the remastering of the first two installments of Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Electronic Arts has surprised with a latest announcement at EA Play Live 2020, its digital conference. Before the presentation ended, the North American developer has revealed that Skate will return with a new installment. Director Deran Chung has appeared in the video, although no trailer or image of the game has yet been shown, so we will have to wait for new news in the future.

Ready for the new generation

Electronic Arts has also shown a small glimpse of what the next generation of their studios will be like. BioWare, EA DICE, Criterion, EA Motive and the rest of the developers are working on experiences that will benefit from the new technology.

BioWare is preparing for a new stage marked by its work on a new Dragon Age, which has already been officially announced. Inquisition, the most recent installment, went on sale in 2014 and opened the doors to Frostbite, the EA DICE graphics engine, originally used in the Battlefield saga. The Canadian developer had to adapt the tool to make it work in an RPG. Despite the problems and the vicissitudes they had to face, the title became a success; it was also the GOTY of FreeGameTips.

After the failure of Mass Effect Andromeda, a game heavily punished at launch, albeit corrected a posteriori, the team focused on Anthem. Unfortunately, BioWare’s new intellectual property suffered from a troubled first few months, something that has led the studio to establish a new plan to redesign the playable experience. The company has allocated resources and a small team to guide the project and bring it to fruition. When? It will still take time, as they warned in one of the official blog statements.

In addition to all these projects, BioWare is working on a new installment of Mass Effect. At least that confirmed sources from Kotaku months ago. According to this information, the project was in the early stages of development.
