Cannibal – continuation of the 80s horror adventure announced

Playfront

After 40 years, the Italian developer Fantastico Studio and director Ruggero Deodato are working on a continuation of their horror adventure ‘Cannibal’, but this time not as a film but in a video game. Anyone who knows the films from 1977 to 1985 first thinks of total trash from today’s perspective. Nevertheless, the project has a certain fascination.

The developer writes:

“On the fortieth anniversary of the release of the cult film“ Cannibal Holocaust ”, director Ruggero Deodato announces the fourth, highly anticipated chapter of his cannibal cycle with great news: The new episode will not be a film, but a video game created in collaboration with Fantastico Studio. The themes made the saga popular: the life of the natives, told in its rawness, and cannibalism, powerful metaphors that reveal the most disturbing and profound impulses in our society. ”

The game is based on an interactive horror graphics adventure that is created using the Unity engine. The direction and the screenplay are still from Ruggero Deodato and the original drawings from Solo Macello.

In the game, the player takes control of various characters, the backgrounds of which are gradually revealed, leading them to a desperate expedition into the virgin jungle of Borneo. Deodato promises the final end of the story, which is designed to tear any certainty that one gains during the game from the foundations.

Cannibal will be available for the current generation from November 2020.
