EA will reinforce the Star Wars saga: future commitment

The North American company talks about its relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm and confirms that they will continue to invest in games in the galactic saga.

When Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, LucasArts closed its doors and Electronic Arts took over the rights to develop video games based on Star Wars. Since then, after some successes and some failures, the company continues to think about new titles for the future. This was stated by Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, at an investors meeting. The company seeks to redouble its efforts, which is why it has stated that it will continue to deepen its association with Lucasfilm.

“I say again that we have a fantastic relationship with Disney. We had a great relationship with LucasArts — we had a long collaboration with them since the time of Star Wars: The Old Republic, which we launched in 2011—, ”he said. “We were successful in first person shooters, RPGs, action adventure, MMORPG and mobile, so I am convinced that we will be successful with Squadrons as well.” The executive added that Disney is highly committed to intellectual property and royalty, so it will continue to create new content in the future.

The case of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

On the other hand, Blake Jorgensen, chief financial officer of Electronic Arts, has not missed the opportunity to remember that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been a triumph for EA. According to the CFO, they have laid the foundation for building products for the next few years.

Vince’s team [Zampella] In Jedi: Fallen Order, who has entered into an incredible collaboration with Lucas, has managed to create new characters and content that have never been seen before, something strange in the history of Star Wars. Show the creative partnership we have created thanks to Vince and Stig [Asmussen, director] and the team. They have built the foundation for things we could do in the years to come. ”

The next game in the saga is developed by EA Motive and is called Star Wars: Squadrons, a title set after The Return of the Jedi that will put us at the controls of the fastest and most destructive ships in the galaxy.
