DualSense – Official PS5 Controller & Create Feature Unveiled

Playfront

Surprisingly, Sony today unveiled the new controller for the PS5, in which there is not only a big change in the name. In addition to the already known features, the controller is now called DualSense Controller, which is also supposed to reflect the features.

The DualSense controller represents how players will interact with the virtual worlds in PS5 games in the future. The functions of DualSense together with Tempest 3D audio technology provide a new feeling of immersion.

“We had a great opportunity to innovate with the PS5 by giving game developers the opportunity to find out how they could enhance that sense of immersion with our new controller. For this reason, we have developed haptic feedback that creates a variety of strong sensations that you will feel when playing, e.g. B. the slow roughness when driving through mud. We also have adaptive triggers built into the DualSense L2 and R2 buttons so you can really feel the tension of your actions. ”

Create feature announced

Obviously, the popular share button is no longer available, but not entirely. This feature has also been developed further, as Sony explains:

“With Create, we’re once again pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content to share with the world or just enjoy for themselves. We’ll reveal more details about this feature as we get closer to launch. ”

The DualSense controller also has an integrated microphone array that allows players to chat with friends without a headset – ideal for quickly getting into a conversation.

Another innovation is the color scheme of the controller, which is no longer simply black or white. This time they opted for a two-tone design and changed the position of the light bar to give it an extra pop. This is now on each side of the touchpad and gives it a slightly larger appearance.

“We are very excited to unveil the final design of the DualSense controller to our fans, and we can’t wait to get everyone’s hands on it,” said Sony.

The PS5 and DualSense controller will be available at Christmas 2020.
