Skate 4 will bet on the content generated by the player community

The new episode of the Electronic Arts saga will adapt to the new times and will take into account current times and trends.

The presentation of a new Skate (which we currently understand under the tentative name of Skate 4) was one of the great announcements of the past EA Play Live 2020, where Electronic Arts released its lineup of upcoming video games. The skateboarding license, which achieved great success in criticism and sales with its third installment, will return with many new features at the conceptual level.

According to Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, in a meeting with shareholders, reviving this simulator will not be just with a fourth episode, but they justify this return just now because they believe that it can be a focus of constant interactions between players, because it can be a trend within the most active communities.

10 years difference from Skate 3: times have changed

“You take a game like Skate, and while skateboarding itself already has great appeal to a global audience, there is also another age-old trend taking place in our industry, and that is user-generated content; the open world and interaction ”, begins by explaining the manager more abstractly. “For many people, skateboarding is not just a sport: it is something that opens doors to art, to culture … If you meet a boy named Nyjah Huston on Instagram, one of the most famous skaters in the world, you will realize that she is really young, she started skateboarding and now she has become an icon in the fashion world, she lives in a mansion in Beverly Hills and she drives a Rolls Royce ”, she exemplifies.

“So when you think of sakte as a starting point to get attention, but from there you start to build content based on what users, exploration and community generate above all else, that expands exponentially the opportunities ”, he repeats.

Wilson wants Skate 4 to be a mass phenomenon where great creators create trends, a video game capable of connecting players with aspects not only like cross play – which will arrive in Apex Legends and will be available from the first day in Star Wars: Squadrons – but also for the sum of what skateboarding means for society and the possibilities offered by the tools of the new video game.

The new Skate is currently under development. At this time, its release date is unknown; also the platforms where it will see the light.
