Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time presents its new level on a pirate island

The new project by Activision and Toys for Bob will be released this October with many new features compared to the original trilogy.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is one of the great standard bearers of the 3D platform genre for this year 2020. The new Activision project, developed by Toys for Bob and not Vicarious Visions, as Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, will feature a renewed artistic section and playable novelties based on mechanics and, of course, new levels. From IGN they have had access to one of them based on a pirate territory.

As we can see, this island is really a stage that awaits a great treasure. A wrecked ship welcomes us in a linear stretch with obstacles and progress based on platforms, ropes, enemies, bombs and other elements that are familiar to us.

If there is something that does not change it is the design structure, something that the developers have wanted to emphasize from the first moment: Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is still Crash. Although we identify aspects already seen in other representatives of the genre, there are still many unknowns and surprises that will be confirmed over the coming months.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time arrives on October 2 on PS4 and Xbox One

One of the main characteristics of the game in the framework of the novelties is the Quantum Masks. So far, we have seen two of the four in this new installment. One of them will allow us to slow down time, so that we can cross some sections using elements of the stage as temporary platforms. The other will be dedicated to being able to walk on the walls altering the laws of gravity. The axis of movement is thus widened, until now always limited to Crash with feet on the surface; except for the phases where we climbed in vehicles or moved underwater. In the first trailer we have also seen sections on rails, chases and lianas.

Regarding the possibility of the game seeing the light on other platforms, Activision has limited itself to saying that they are “evaluating” all the options, but at the moment they have nothing to announce. Thus, a possible version on Nintendo Switch and PC (as already happened with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy or Spyro Reignited Trilogy) is not ruled out; Nor is an adaptation with improvements in the next generation, PS5 and Xbox Series X, if its backward compatibility materializes.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be available in physical and digital format on October 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. According to the official Microsoft store, there will be microtransactions; An offline multiplayer mode has been confirmed on PS Network.
