PlayStation announces a new studio in Malaysia to develop PS5 games

Sony will have new offices in the Asian market in order to enhance the development of more productions in the next generation.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios will have a new development studio in Malaysia for the production of new video games for PlayStation 5. This will be the first study of the company in Southeast Asia, a team that will be responsible for art tasks and animation in exclusive titles of other internal studies.

Therefore, the study, which will stabilize in 2020, will receive orders from Guerrilla Games, Japan Studio, Insomniac Games, Media Molecule, Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, London Studio, Sucker Punch and other studies from next year. Gobind Singh Deo, current Minister of Communications and Multimedia in Malaysia, has celebrated the announcement because of the importance for them of investing in international relations in a growing industry such as videogames.

Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation, has added that his "impressive talent, a vibrant gaming ecosystem and government support are the keys for which we have decided to close this agreement with Malaysia."

We have recently learned that Sony is open to the purchase of new studios after closing the acquisition of Insomniac Games last August. PlayStation Worldwide Studios has 14 development studios, although it has not been clear whether the opening of these offices will establish a new studio with its own name or if it will only serve to outsource work from other works from the internal departments of SCEI.

PlayStation 5 will launch at Christmas 2020

The launch of PS5 will take place at Christmas 2020. Sony expects the console to be "the fastest in the world." Today we do not know its price, but we do know details of its ambitious command, which will bring news and improvements over the current DualShock 4. Backward compatibility, unlike this generation, will be present in some way, but currently continue working on it and there are no more details about it.
