Larian Studios confirms that despite this, the game is just around the corner and will give a new date for it on August 18.
Although we had been warned that it could happen due to the coronavirus, today it has been made official. Larian Studios has issued a statement on their social networks confirming that no, that the early access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally not arrive in August. Still, the developer ensures that the game is “just around the corner” and that it will announce the definitive date on August 18 at 7:00 p.m. (Spanish local time). The announcement will take place during a special presentation on the game, Panel From Hell, which will be broadcast through its website and will be attended by Geoff Keighley, master of ceremonies for The Game Awards and recent events such as the Summer Games Fest .
Good news and bad news. BG3 won’t hit August, but it’s just around the corner. We’ll be announcing the release date, as well as big news on the Panel From Hell alongside @geoffkeighley, @LarAtLarian and the Larian crew. Tune in Aug 18th. https://t.co/S1RlVpJ8yw pic.twitter.com/NCkrnHHpH0

The company’s statements have been precipitated after what happened in the last hours, in which several platforms and digital stores have started selling the game without the approval of the study. Michael Douse, director of publishing for Larian Studios, said yesterday that we should be careful when booking Baldur’s Gate 3. “We cannot guarantee that you will receive anything,” said Douse. “We will not have a reservation period and there are no plans to work with stores or third party distributors.” The developer does not offer support for any transaction and does not accept claims if the keys acquired during these days end up giving problems. Hopefully, the August 18 announcement will end this.
We also can’t offer support for any transaction through those sites if there’s a problem since we have no agreement with them. I don’t have anything against selling keys that are in stock on those sites, but there’s no indication they’ll have BG3 stock.

In any case, we remind you that we already know all the details of the early access version of the game. Characters, classes, races … The only question to solve is when we can return to the world of Forgotten Realms, which seems like a matter of weeks. Until then, for those in Baldur’s Gate 3 jumpsuits, we also recommend taking a look at the more than 60 minutes of gameplay that the game left us at D&D Live 2020, where we were able to discover the possibilities of exploration in the game, the vicissitudes of its combat system and the range of RPG mechanics.
