TEST: Gamewarez Classic Beanbag – A piece of furniture for gamers?

Playfront

Manufacturer Gamewarez has set itself the goal of producing comfortable beanbags for console lovers and gamers, making even long and intense gambling sessions a comfortable affair. We've been warming ourselves up on a Gamewarez Classic gaming beanbag and tell you whether it's worth buying.

A few basic information beforehand: The beanbag is filled with small beads of polystyrene (colloquially often called Styrofoam, which is a trademarked name) filled, which are particularly stable, durable and flame retardant. They also have another advantage: they weigh very little – which is why the gaming beanbag despite a size of 95cmx65cmx90cm (LxWxH) is a real lightweight. Incidentally, the small polystyrene beads can also easily be replaced: a zipper with an integrated inner net is located on the underside of the beanbag, which allows refilling without much effort.

Unlike standard beanbags, the Gamewarez Classic model has a backrest that is both soft and dimensionally stable. So you can lean on comfortably, without having to worry, to tilt backwards. For extra comfort, a side pocket on the right side of the beanbag is also provided. This can be divided by Velcro into three cells, each about the diameter of a 0.5-liter bottle. If you like beer while gambling or watching TV, then you have the right tray. Alternatively, you can also store the controller, remote control or mobile phone there. On the left is also a holder on which you can hang headphones or headsets.

The material varies depending on the product type. The Classic series of the Gamewarez gaming beanbag is available in different versions and designs. For our test we got a beanbag of the "Crimson Hurricane" style. Its synthetic leather case looks robust and high quality. It has a red and black color scheme, a checked pattern on the seat surface and is inspired by the design of sports car seats. However, the imitation leather beanbag is also slightly more expensive than some Gamewarez products, which rely on conventional or PVC-coated polyester. But he always looks stylish.

So much for the theory, let's get to the practical part: How is it sitting on the piece of furniture for gamers? Basically, once very comfortable – as expected with a bean bag. The small polystyrene beads fit well and create a seat that is more comfortable in the long run than many a sofa. And: one does not sink as much as with comparable products. By the way, the gaming beanbag also offers enough space. Particularly useful is above all the already mentioned backrest, which allows a reasonably ergonomic sitting. However, you should not expect the comfort of a full-fledged gaming chair. The backrest of the beanbag has no headrest and only goes up to the shoulder area – which can definitely lead to a stiff neck in the long run. Those who are prone to back problems should therefore rather search for a truly ergonomic solution. Optionally, you can buy the bean bag – for a corresponding surcharge – in a bundle with a footstool. This allows a much more horizontal sitting position, in which the backrest becomes headrest, at least for smaller persons.

All in all, the Classic range of Gamewarez beanbags is a very promising solution for players who have no room for a sofa – or for those who like to sit with a mobile piece of furniture right in front of the 4K TV, because of them Seating distance from the sofa is too large. And for the buddy who comes by for a Zock session, the beanbag is always enough. A sticking point could be the price: The Crimson Hurricane version costs 139.90 euros from the manufacturer. Polyester models are available from 114, 90 euros (with large mail-order companies sometimes for a little less money). So you pay for the promise that the beanbag is durable, with. Whether this is the case, we can not judge in the context of this review – this will be shown in the long-term test. The shell of the bean bag is processed but high quality and is very tear-resistant. And: The beads are in a separate net. If a seam breaks up somewhere, the polystyrene filling remains intact. You can not do much wrong with the Gamewarez beanbag.
