UK: Days Gone more successful than Death Stranding for launch

Although both titles have been equally strongly criticized at the beginning, 'Days Gone' by Sony Bend against 'Death Stranding' can prevail in the first sales week under the First Party in the UK.

As current sales figures show, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to be the leader, while Death Stranding secured second place, which is quite remarkable for a first-party exclusive title. Still, Death Stranding sold about 36 percent less in the release week than Days Gone. However, this only applies to physical sales, not digital sales.

Hideo Kojima commented on the launch in relation to the different markets with the fact that in the US, especially more shooter fans are on the road, which would be evident in Death Stranding.

"I have to say that the game has received rave reviews, especially in Europe and Japan. Here in the US, however, we have stronger reviews. For a certain type of critic and audience, it may be a difficult game to understand. Americans are big fans of first-person shooters and Death Stranding is not one, it's flying higher. "

The other UK Charts of the current week are as follows, in which Need for Speed: Heat just made it into the top 3 as a new release.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • Death Stranding
  • FIFA 20
  • Luigi's Mansion 3
  • Need for Speed: Heat
  • Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  • Fortnite: Darkfire Bundle
