Nintendo rules out lowering the price of Switch "right now"

The Nintendo machine, which has already served more than two years in the market, released the Lite model last September.

Nintendo is not in a hurry when it comes to lowering the price of its console. This was reflected by Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, during the presentation of the company's financial results. Just over two months after the launch of Nintendo Switch Lite, the most economical and portable model of the console, the Kyoto company has confirmed that they have no plans to make any additional price adjustments.

In fact, a shareholder has suggested that he does not believe that they have the need to lower the price of the machine over the next few years, something in which Furukawa has agreed: “We will continue to maintain the value of our products and sell them to current price as much as possible, since we do not plan to reduce prices at this time ”. According to the head of the company of Mario, they want to continue improving the profits with the increase "in the number of units sold", as well as with the sale of "the Nintendo Switch family of hardware" as long as they can.

Over 40 million Nintendo Switch sold

As FreeGameTips published, the fiscal results report corresponding to the third quarter of 2019 updates the number of consoles sold worldwide. Thus, Nintendo Switch stands at 41.67 million units sold. The report clarifies that between July, August and September, Nintendo put into circulation 2.85 million machines. On the other hand, Nintendo Switch Lite managed to sell 1.5 million consoles in just two weeks.

The last half of the year is key for Nintendo Switch, since they have made available to the players some of the most important titles of the console. If Astral Chain went on sale at the end of August, September was the month of The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, while October has been reserved for Luigis's Mansion 3. To end the year, there is still one last bullet left, nothing more and nothing less than Pokémon Sword and Shield, which will go on sale on November 15.
