Poll: Will you buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X | S this Christmas? Which one?

We asked FreeGameTips readers about their chosen next-generation console for the end of the year. PlayStation and Xbox have already shown their cards.

Once the release dates and price of PS5 and Xbox Series X | S are known, it is time to take stock and see what is worth more. Not always can everything or everything fits our needs, so the imminent new generation is presented, de facto, as the most open to date: four models with very different price ranges and features. We have asked the FreeGameTips community on Twitter for their chosen console.

What console will you buy this Christmas? PS5, Xbox Series X, PS5 Digital Edition, and Xbox Series S

In our consultation, where more than 8,500 people have participated, we urge those who are going to buy a new console at the end of the year to participate; specifically, the new options from Sony and Microsoft to make the leap to the new generation. Depending on whether we want to go with everything or something more moderate (both in price and in benefits), the options are diverse. On the one hand, PS5 and Xbox Series X will cost the same, 499 euros, with differences in specifications and catalog that you can consult here).

Also, both have a digital-only option, PS5 Digital Edition for 399 euros and Xbox Series S for 299 euros. Here are more things to clarify. Broadly speaking, the first is exactly the same as its older sister, except that the disc player (and 600 grams of weight) is left on the way. For its part, Xbox Series S is the smallest console in Microsoft’s history, dispenses with a reader, 4K resolution (up to 1440p) and has a reduced RAM. An intermediate leap, in short, with the guarantee of having all the new generation software without giving up SSD memory.

50% of readers will buy a PS5 with a disc player

The community has spoken and decided. With 50% of the votes (5 out of 10), PS5 with a disc reader is enshrined as the preferred option for those who are going to buy a console this Christmas. The PlayStation ecosystem gathers 66.6% of the votes; that is, exactly 2 out of 3 players will opt for a PS5.

Of that other third, the purchase options of those who opt for an Xbox Series are broken down. 33.4% of the participants have chosen Xbox Series as their preferred console. Of the total, 22.9% will be made with an Xbox Series X, the most powerful console of the four. Finally, the lowest-priced solution, Xbox Series S, is the one chosen by 10.5% of voters. Here are some statistical conclusions.

  • 72.9% of voters will buy a console with a disc player (PS5 or Xbox Series X)
  • 27.1% will make the leap to the only digital model
  • PS5 has a 66.6% support; Xbox Series the other 33.4%
  • Between PS5 and Xbox Series X, two out of three will choose a PS5

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will arrive on November 10 at a price of 499 euros and 299 euros, respectively. PS5 will hit stores on November 19 in Spain and the rest of Europe at a recommended price of 499 euros in the model with a disc player; 399 euros for PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. In Japan, the United States and Mexico It will be released on November 12.
