PS5: Eastshade creators say their hardware will be "an evolution, not a revolution"

The new Sony platform will mount an SSD hard drive and an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor, in addition to including haptic functions in its controls.

There is still a year left for the premiere of the new consoles, but Sony has already opened the ban with the official announcement of PlayStation 5. Although at the moment we only have some superficial details, it has been confirmed that the console will have an SSD hard drive, which will allow much faster loads. In addition, it is also known that the CPU will be an adapted version of the AMD Ryzen Zen 2. However, those who expect a revolution will find an evolution. At least that says Danny Weinbaum, director of Eastshade.

According to the developer, the new generation hardware will improve, but it will not be a big step forward. This is stated in an interview with GamingBolt, where he said that the hard drive will help reduce loading times, but that it will not have much impact on overall performance. "Many games have everything they need in memory now, so it won't affect much at that point, but it will help in open-world games that require streaming."

Regarding the CPU, Weinbaum argues that it will not bring too many changes. Although it will allow, for example, the appearance of more objects on the screen, it will be “an evolution, not a revolution”.

Backward compatibility, PlayStation Now and more

That PS5 is going to be backward compatible with PlayStation 4 is a reality. The Japanese company confirmed it previously, but also acknowledged that they are still working on this functionality. The objective is to ensure that all the titles of the previous generation are compatible with the new console. However, it has not yet been 100% certified that this will be possible,

On the other hand, Sony moved token to revitalize its subscription service, PlayStation Now. The company decided to lower the price and include more current games in order to adapt to new market needs.
