PS5: a Sony patent reveals the possible appearance of the new DualShock remote

It is not confirmed that it is the future DualShock 5, but the registration is official and shows an aspect similar to the PS4 controller.

PlayStation 5 has not seen the light and will be delayed for a whole year, but Sony already paves the way for the premiere of the new generation. In an exclusive article published in Wired, the Japanese company gave the first details of the future PS5 and its command, the DualShock 5 – unofficial name at the moment. However, nothing was said about its appearance, which judging by the images that accompany the patent that Sony has registered, will follow the line of DualShock 4.

How is the command?

The prototype drawings coincide with the description made by Wired, which already alluded to the resemblance to the PlayStation 4 controller. The patent confirms the presence of the microphone and also shows some differences with respect to the DualShock 4. The triggers are larger and the sticks They reduce their size. On the other hand, the light is dispensed with and the USB-C is chosen to connect the controller to the console, as previously confirmed.

The command prototype has already been sent to some developers, who describe it as a matte black device that looks a lot like the DualShock 4. However, the new command incorporates completely new features. As Sony itself revealed, the pad will implement adaptive triggers and haptic functions, so that the sensations at the controls will be different. For example, they pointed out that shooting an arrow would feel different from firing a firearm.

PS5 will go on sale at the end of 2020. The console, which will mount an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor, will introduce an SSD hard drive into its bowels, allowing faster loads. It is confirmed that the console will be backward compatible with its predecessor, although the work has not yet been completed.

PlayStation Now, the platform download and streaming service will also be back. In fact, the Japanese company recently announced a price drop to adapt to the competition, also accompanied by new video games.
