Arc System Works presents its new fighting game: DNF Duel

The creators of Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear or BlazBlue present their next fighting game, DFN Duel, a spin off of Dungeon Fighters Online.

They are the creators of Dragon Ball FighterZ and the heads of sagas like Guilty Gear or BlazBlue, credentials that explain why all fans of fighting games keep silent when Arc System Works speaks. It is a mixture of nerves, respect and expectation for what one of the most important developers of the genre has to say. A developer that in the last hours has made us happy Christmas with the announcement of a new game for 2021. It will be called DFN Duel (Dungeon & Fighter Duel) and will act as a spin-off of Dungeon Fighters Online, an MMORPG launched in 2005 under the baton of Neople, a company that will also collaborate with Arc System Works in this new installment. This is what his first gameplay looks like:

What is Dungeon Fighter?

If you don’t know Dungeon Fighter Online, it is a two-dimensional beat ’em up reminiscent of classics of the caliber of Golden Ax or Double Dragon. The game, of Korean origin, took more than five years to see the light outside the Asian market, and it did not arrive in Europe until 2016, more than a decade after its launch. This has not prevented it from being a worldwide success that has already passed 700 million players. It has had several adaptations such as manga and anime, it is the fourth best-selling video game franchise in history and was able to bill fifteen billion dollars in May 2020, a sign of the good health that it continues to spend today.

This spin off, DFN Duel (Dungeon & Fighter Duel), will be adapted in the style of Arc System Works and will offer spectacular 2.5-dimensional battles between some of the most popular characters from the original. At the moment Gunner, Slayer and Fighter are already confirmed. For now, the platforms on which the game will be released are unknown, but with the bulk of its PC community coming, it would be strange not to have it. In any case, and while waiting for more details, DFN Duel will have to live in the day-to-day life of the developer with Guilty Gear: Strive, also scheduled for 2021. Exciting months ahead for fans of the fighting genre.
