Animal Crossing: New Horizons – All the Fish, Critters, and Sea Creatures Leaving in January 2021

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - All the Fish, Critters, and Sea Creatures Leaving in January 2021

Time to go hunting, fishing and diving in search of all the species that leave the game with the monthly rotation and the arrival of New Years.

New Year New Life. And especially in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which will say goodbye to 2020 with the usual New Year’s event and saying goodbye to a good number of fish, critters and sea creatures, especially for those who have chosen an island in the southern hemisphere. (Being warm in winter was not going to be all advantages!). Like the entire saga, the title is governed by the hours, seasons and festivities of the real world … and its fauna does the same with the weather conditions and biomes. Therefore, below we leave you not only a list with the monthly rotation, but also an explanation on how to capture those animals that you are missing. Don’t forget either that Tom Nook’s Desert Islands Settlement Plan is still in full swing and he has confirmed that he will continue to receive updates in 2021, so there is still a lot of fabric to cut in-game … and a lot of berries to pay for.

Rotation of bugs and fish in the northern hemisphere as of January 2021

If your island is in the northern hemisphere you are in luck, because this month is not the limit to capture any of the few critters that are currently fluttering around it. Yes, some marine creatures and fish disappear, but they are not too many and there is still plenty of time to get hold of them. But in case we can’t, don’t panic. The pike will return in September next year, the mussel in June and the spiny lobster, such as the pike, in September.

Marine creatures

  • Mussel (visible all day, diving).
  • Spiny lobster (visible from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., diving).

Fishes

  • Lucio (visible all day in the rivers).

Things get a little more complicated for those who opted for the southern hemisphere, especially due to the large number of bugs that leave the game temporarily. Fortunately, none of them are particularly difficult to catch.

  • Dragonfly (flies from 19:00 to 04:00).

  • Fiddle beetle (in trees all day).
