Stardew Valley will receive expansion 1.5 on consoles in late January

The game update, almost like an expansion due to the large number of changes and extras it brings, will arrive on PS4, Xbox One and Switch in January 2021.

The creator of Stardew Valley, Eric Barone, has been bombarded these days with questions about when we will be able to enjoy the game’s 1.5 update on consoles and mobile phones, released by surprise on PC on December 22. And although he had already spoken of “early 2021”, Barone did not want to leave us with the intriguing and has been even more specific. For iOS and Android there is no estimated date yet, but on consoles it could be ready by the end of January. Of course, the author still does not guarantee it and does not want to get his fingers caught if the thing ends up going to February.

A compelling reason to return to Stardew Valley

This is good news in any case. Players on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch won’t have to wait too long to enjoy this patch, a kind of expansion that is a true game changer for Stardew Valley. The title, already outstanding in itself, has in this version with important new features, such as a local split-screen multiplayer mode, a seventh type of farm (Beach Farm) and a new region, Ginger Island, the latter full of new locations, characters, enemies and secrets. Specifically, this is the full list of features added by update 1.5 (spoiler-free list):

  • New characters.
  • New challenges and challenges.
  • New objects.
  • New type of missions.
  • New kind of farm.
  • New event characters.
  • A new Community Upgrade.

  • Ducks can swim.
  • Now we can sit in the chairs.
  • You can move your bed.

  • 9 new music tracks.

The game, by the way, is available in the Steam winter sales with a 33% discount, reaching a price of 9.37 euros instead of the usual 13.99. A golden opportunity to drop everything and become farmers.
