The arrival of the popular online title on PlayStation 5 will take advantage of next-generation hardware to offer 4K graphics. Free update on PS4.

Final Fantasy XIV, the successful Square Enix MMORPG led by Naoki Yoshida, will soon arrive on PS5 with severe improvements over the PlayStation 4 version. With a free update for last generation users, Sony has made explicit everything we should expect from facing the jump from the fourteenth numbered installment of the series to the new platform of the Japanese company, which is also preparing its new expansion, Endwalker, after the acclaimed Shadowbringers.

In the absence of knowing the exact date of its premiere, it will be April 13 when we can witness the first playable approach to the title thanks to an open beta that will allow the PS5 servers to be tested. This beta will include the content of A Real Reborn and Hevensward (with patch 3.56 applied), the first expansion. From the official PlayStation blog they ensure four great news for Final Fantasy XIV on PS5:

  • Improved FPS and performance: more frames per second.
  • Reduced loading times thanks to the use of SSD memories.
  • 4K resolution (Ultra HD; although we do not know if it will be rescaled or native).
  • Renewed interface; menus in higher resolution.
  • Free update for PS4 players.

Endwalker, the fourth expansion of Final Fantasy XIV

The future of Final Fantasy is currently going through three major fronts. On the one hand, this expansion, the fourth, for Final Fantasy XIV. Endwalker does not have a release date, but we do know its release window: fall 2021. On the other hand, we have Final Fantasy XVI, also directed by Naoki Yoshida, exclusively for PS5 and without a specific release date. We invite you to read this preview in depth with everything we know about it.

Finally, we have Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 (tentative name), the next part of an unknown total number of episodes from the reimagining of the original PlayStation game. We only have promises, like that it will surprise the fans and that its development is progressing little by little.
