Enter the Oculus Link beta phase, the software that enables you to connect Oculus Quest to your PC

It is now possible to connect Oculus Quest to your PC to enjoy the full Virtual Reality experience. Oculus Link enters beta phase.

From now on it is possible to connect Oculus Quest to your PC to use it as a desktop Virtual Reality device. In this way you can enjoy all the experience offered by Rift S or any device that requires a computer. You will no longer be tied to the Oculus store, but you can make use of games that are on platforms like Steam.

This little milestone of Facebook is possible through Oculus Link, a specific software for your portable VR that has just entered tests. The beta phase means that not all computers capable of rendering virtual reality can access the possibilities of Oculus Link, at least as of today. The minimum requirements are to have 8GB of memory or more, Windows 10, a USB 3.0 port and at least one i5-4590 processor (Ryzen 5 1500X, its equivalent in AMD) or higher. The problems come from the hand of the available GPUs, since only the latest Nvidia models can support the beta: the RTX 20 series, GTX 16, Titan X, GTX 1080, GTX 1070 and GTX 1060, for the moment.

Thus they described the facts from the company.

“As the Virtual Reality ecosystem grows, developers continue to push the limits of what is possible, taking advantage of the full potential of a gaming computer linked to Rift. While Rift S offers the most faithful gaming experience available right now, Oculus Quest makes it easier than ever to enter the world of VR. Oculus Link adds depth and breadth of the experiences you can have with Quest, while helping developers reach the maximum possible audience. ”

You can access the beta through the official Oculus website.
