Resident Evil Village on PS5: how much space will it take up on the SSD?

Resident Evil 8 Village, first details: more action, no load times and timeline

We already know the weight of the video game for its pre-download on the Sony console. Capcom’s title goes on sale next May.

Resident Evil Village will have a weight of 27.32 GB on PlayStation 5. PlayStation Game Size anticipates that the eighth video game in the Capcom saga will activate its preload on May 5, so that from that date players will be able to start downloading the title in their PlayStation consoles. That amount, added to the 15 GB of Resident Evil Re: Verse, raises the figure to practically 50 GB of weight necessary for downloading, since we must add the possible day one patch.

The information does not specify how much Resident Evil Village will weigh on PlayStation 4, Sony’s previous-generation console. Just a few days ago we learned that Resident Evil Village will weigh 35 GB on Xbox consoles, both Xbox One and Xbox Series, higher than the weight of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard in its day, 27 GB.

Resident Evil 8 Village will be available in physical and digital format starting this May 7 for PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC; also on PS4 and Xbox One without the advantages of the new generation.

Resident Evil Village invitations? Capcom warns of a scam attempt

Capcom has alerted consumers to a scam attempt via email inviting recipients to try Resident Evil Village in advance. These emails, issued in recent days, are completely false, what we currently know as phishing; an attempted identity theft with fraudulent purposes by its authors for financial gain. The Japanese firm recommends immediately deleting such messages.

“We sent this message as we have been informed that emails are circulating claiming to contain ‘Early Access invitations’ for Resident Evil Village. The issuer is listed as ‘no-reply (at) capcom (dot) com’, ”Capcom reported in a statement accessed by media such as Twisted Voxel.

“We want to inform you that these messages are NOT from Capcom and appear to be phishing attempts by an unauthorized third party. If you have received such a message, DO NOT download any files or reply; delete the message immediately, ”they continue.

Capcom, victim of a cyberattack months ago

Last November, Capcom acknowledged having been hacked through a cyberattack that exposed important data related to company projects; even possible personal data of your employees. This security breach put at risk very valuable and confidential information of the company, one of the largest entities in Japan, and therefore they began conversations with the authorities to appease the matter. In January 2021, they updated the information, warning that this gap had affected, at least, the information of more than 15,000 people.

However, Capcom is increasingly studying possible vulnerabilities in its systems and warns, with cases like the one that is now in the news, also its consumers of these attempts at fraud, deception and identity theft. In Spain, according to the newspaper EL PAÍS, the 2020 pandemic triggered attempts at cyberattacks or phishing through the networks, with more than 700,000 alerts until last October, according to the study carried out by LKS Next.
