Bethesda insists: Deathloop remains exclusive to PS5

The company reiterates its intention to maintain the exclusive agreement with PlayStation. The Microsoft purchase does not change the plans.

Deathloop is an exclusive video game for PlayStation 5 consoles despite the recent confirmation of purchase of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft. The incorporation of the eight Bethesda Softworks studios in Xbox Game Studios does not alter plans that were closed and agreed long before, Bethesda itself has reiterated in a statement addressed to Game Informer.

“The acquisition has not affected the day-to-day development of Deathloop, which we are developing exclusively for PlayStation 5 on console and for PC,” reads the official message. In this way, the long-awaited video game from Arkane Studios, recently known for the Dishonored saga, will be released exclusively temporarily for consoles in the new generation of Sony; and suggest that at this time they are not working on an eventual adaptation of the work to Xbox consoles.

If nothing has changed, we know that Deathloop’s exclusivity agreement on PS5 is temporary: one year. A similar condition applies to Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Bethesda Softworks is now part of Xbox Game Studios

During the afternoon of this past Tuesday, March 9, we learned that the European Commission had approved the purchase – upon payment of 7.5 billion dollars -, so that the Bethesda Softworks set, made up of Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios , Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios plus all of their employees, become Microsoft employers within Xbox Game Studios.

In addition, a relevant fact in this regard is that Xbox, PC and Game Pass will be “the best place” to play them, although they warn that “some new titles in the future” from Bethesda will be exclusive for Xbox and PC users; They do not rule out, therefore, that others reach other competing platforms. They did not offer details on what they may be.

Deathloop, for its part, was shown in detail during the last State of Play in February, whose death and resurrection loop will be released exclusively for the console on PS5 on May 21, also on PC.
