Star Wars the Mandalorian: visual guide and original novel canceled

The publisher DK Books argues that this decision has been made due to the expansion of the universe of the series.

The success of The Mandalorian has not fallen on deaf ears. The first live-action series based on Star Wars has already released its second season, but Lucasfilm has confirmed that the next one is already underway, as well as several spin-offs. The publisher DK Books had in its portfolio two books dedicated to Disney + fiction, The Mandalorian: Ultimate Visual Guide, written by Pablo Hidalgo, and an original novel by Adam Christopher. Both projects have been canceled due to the expansion of this universe, at least according to the official version.

“Due to the expansion of the world of The Mandalorian, we will not be publishing The Mandalorian: Ultimate Visual Guide at this time, as the story continues to unfold on screen.” The Twitter account of the Star Wars books on that same social network has also issued a similar message, but this time in reference to the original novel. “We love working with author Adam Christopher and are already working with him on another book. We are excited to share more details in the future. ”

Nothing to do with the dismissal of Gina Carano

Some followers have linked the dismissal of Gina Carano to this editorial decision, but sources close to Disney Publishing affirm that it has had absolutely nothing to do with it. It is possible that the development of the third season interfered with the plots that the author was outlining for his original novel. In any case, the person in charge of the visual guide can take the opportunity to add new elements as the series progresses, if it is finally published.

The third season of The Mandalorian does not yet have an official date. However, the series’ first spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett, will be available on Disney + starting December 21. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni also sketch the Rangers of the New Republic series and the Anakin Skywalker apprentice Ahsoka series.
