Google responds to users who say they have broken their promises with Stadia

Titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Destiny 2 do not reach the promised 4K / 60fps, so some players have complained.

Google Stadia has debuted as a platform just a few days ago, but complaints about the performance of some video games have not taken long to flourish. This is the case of Red Dead Redemption 2, which when played on Chromecast Ultra works at 30 fps, but has a resolution 1444 rescaled at 4K, when the promises pointed to it would be native. In the case of playing through Google Chrome, it is possible to play at 60 fps, but the resolution is locked at 1080p. In response to complaints, Google has issued an official statement:

Stadia gives studies freedom to achieve that goal

"Stadia streamea at 4K and 60 fps, and that includes all aspects of our range of graphics, from the game to the screen," the statement begins. "The GPU, encoder and Chromecast Ultra emit their signal at 4K on 4K TVs, with the appropriate internet connection." According to the Silicon Valley company, "developers who design games for Stadia work hard to get the best streaming experience for all games." As in the rest of the platforms, "this includes a variety of techniques to achieve the best quality as a whole".

Google recalled that they offer studios the "freedom to achieve the best image and framerate quality in Stadia" and said they are "impressed" with what they have achieved at launch. “We hope that many developers can, and in most cases succeed, continue to improve their video games at Stadia. And since Stadia lives in our data centers, developers have the opportunity to innovate quickly while designing even better experiences directly for you, without the need for patches or downloads. ”

Before launching, Phil Harrison, head of the project, dropped that some video games, for artistic reasons, would work at 4K / 30ph, but "Stadia always streme at 4K / 60fps" by default. If promises are fulfilled or not, time will tell. For now, Google Stadia has just begun.
