eSports: The PC remains the first choice

Playfront

It's almost as if gamers have been discussing the same topic since the birth of the first PC and console games: What's Better? The fronts seem hardened and hardly anyone wants to deviate from their own point of view. In fact, there are more and more players who are comfortable on both the PC and the console, and have seen some clear – and even relatively objective – differences. Especially with large eSport events, there is still a clear leader, namely the PC. Why this is so, we have found out!

PC vs. console

The half-bitter dispute has been bubbling in forums for gamers like Reddit for a long time. Those who play regularly on their gamer PC have a clear preference and this is easy to understand. In fact, one can say objectively that the PC is superior to the console in many areas. Especially when it comes to precise control, the mouse and keyboard have clear advantages. This is particularly evident in first-person shooters like CS: GO, where every bad shot can mean the end. Even real-time strategy games are generally preferred to be played on the PC, because with the mouse is simply much faster, what should be done. In addition, keyboard shortcuts help to act faster. But there are also game genres that look better on the console. This includes all games that require a particularly smooth control via joystick, z. Racing games like Gran Turismo or sports games like FIFA 20.

Noticeable trend in eSports

If you take a look at today's eSports world, a strong trend becomes clear. Tournaments on the PC are much more promoted and have a very strong fanbase. This is also because the most important eSports disciplines are LoL, Dota 2 and CS: GO. The three games mainly take place on the PC and at the big eSports events mouse and keyboard are the weapons of choice. Even with online sports betting, the same trend can be observed. The bookmaker Netbet, for example, mainly these three disciplines on offer, to come games such as Starcraft, which are also dominated by the PC. Slowly, however, the scene loosens up, especially FIFA 20 and its predecessor FIFA 19 celebrated great successes in the eSports scene last year – and on the console.

Does Crossplay work for eSports?

The function of Crossplay is a trend that has been made possible for a growing number of games. With Crossplay, the hard fronts of the PC and console faction may finally be relaxed, because for the first time, different games can be played on a common server – even if different platforms are used. Are friends of longtime enemies finally becoming friends? Perhaps! But in eSports you think the trend is hardly enforceable. Since players have different conditions on different platforms, the competition would not be fair and the success difficult to measure. In other sports you can not compete with different balls or special equipment. For the PC, this means that he will probably have the upper hand in eSports for even longer.

PCs and consoles have different advantages and disadvantages, which prove particularly good in certain genres. Nevertheless, the PC in the eSport area is clearly ahead. This is mainly due to the strongest disciplines, which are designed for the PC. But more and more console games make the leap into the eSports world. Space is definitely for everyone!
